What is "Concrete Construction" ?

Concrete Construction is more than simply pouring cement and making it look smooth.

If all you are looking for is someone to quote you a price, over the phone, simply based off of a square footage amount, without coming out and looking at the job, without having a true understanding of your needs and the unique issues of your particular site, then Don Tourville and Sons Concrete Construction is probably not for you.

If you require someone who has the ability to come out and look at your project, get a complete understanding of your needs, and then be able to use over 30 years of experience in the concrete construction industry to best formulate a solution to meet your needs and/or fix your existing problem, then we are for you.

We will come out and personally view every project to get a complete understanding of what is needed and/or what is causing the problem.  Pouring new concrete, without addressing the issue as to what caused your existing problem, will only present another problem.

Let us use our experience to help you.

  • Using Our Experience To Solve Your Problems:

    Original Driveway Problems:

    1. Poured directly onto clay and had little or no gravel foundation.
    2. Driveway cracked and collapsed in toward the house.  All rain water drained back toward the house.  Drain tile and sump pump couldn't keep up with heavy rainfalls.
    3. In cold weather driveway pitched and heaved upward so that you could not open service door to garage.
    4. Driveway is a 3 car wide driveway.  It only had 1 relief cut down the center and two across the width.  (Improper amount and placement of relief cuts)
Solutions provided by Don Tourville & Son's Concrete Construction:
    1.  Tear out entire old driveway.
    2.  Uncovered and removed soft unstable ground area in corner of driveway by service garage door, where old tree roots were discovered.   Filled this area in with extra gravel to harden and create strong stable base.
    3. Side of house originally had a stoop by side door that you would then step down onto driveway.  Proposed that by removing stoop and raising driveway height up, this would allow us to gain proper height and pitch to get proper water run-off to flow away from house.
    4. Installed 6-8" base of gravel for strong support.
    5. Proposed to go with a concrete mixture which includes fiberglass strands.  This allows for incredibly strong concrete that will give maximum length of life and durability.
    6. Due to driveway being a 3 car wide driveway, we made sure to cut in proper amount of relief cuts.  Driveway now has 3 relief cuts, equally spaced, going down the length of the driveway and 4 relief cuts cutting across the width.

" I love my new driveway!  I am MORE than satisfied with the job Don and his crew did for me.  The drainage and water problems from the driveway I inherited when I bought my house have now disappeared.  No more water buildup around the house for me..."
